Green Tea First Harvest

Fresh from Australian farmlands, First Harvest Green Tea is something special and prized within Japan, named ichibancha (first tea, 一番茶).

The first not quite fully grown tea leaves of the year are removed by hand to create a stunning taste that can only be found within that particular timing of the year.

This tea will give off a slightly sweeter taste than you're used to, due to the elevated amino acids, Methylxanthine and theanine found only in first harvest green tea.

We have some amazing reviews for this Green Tea, be sure to check them out below or within the tab!

First Harvest Green Tea Health Benefits

High in Antioxidants
A few of the earliest leaves have some of probably the highest concentrations of catechins and polyphenols known to fight free radicals and promote healthy ageing.

Gentle Energy Boost
Naturally caffeine paired with the amino acid L-theanine in first harvest green tea keeps you alert and focused without the coffee jitteriness.

Supports Metabolism
Green tea has been associated with healthy metabolism support in people with an active lifestyle.

Mind and Mood Balance
L-theanine together with caffeine is linked with calm concentration, therefore it's a good tea for studying, work or meditation.

* These benefits have been derived from traditional and general green tea research. Not to be taken as medical advice.

Taste Profile

First Harvest Green Tea is light bodied and slightly sweet. Its flavour is more delicate and refined than the subsequent harvests, with grassy undertones and a crisp finish. The liquor is pale green-gold with a vegetal scent that is refreshing and pure.

Brewing Instructions

One teaspoon of tea leaves per 250ml cup.

Water should be between 75 and 80 degC (never boil to protect tender leaves).

For 1-2 minutes steep, for a light cup, balance it all out.

Re-steep leaves two or three times with slight adjustment of steeping time between infusions.

This short, mild brewing preserves the sweetness without being bitter.

Ways to Enjoy

Morning Ritual - light and refreshing start to the day.

Mindful Breaks - for moments of quiet and focus.

Multiple Infusions - Sample different flavours over steeps.

Cautionary Notes

Caffeine - avoid late in the day consumption if you are sensitive.

Tanning may also reduce iron absorption from meals if you drink large quantities.

Pregnancy or breastfeeding women and/or those on medication should consult their doctor prior to normal use.
